La Grange North CampusStarting in February La Grange Area Historical Society member John Burns will be teaching a new class through the LTHS Adult Education program. The Program titled “La Grange, A Look Back”  will start February 2nd and will be held at LTHS North Campus.

The La Grange area has an interesting and evolving history from early days of Indian lands to the first settlers and farmers who had the courage and vision to settle in the Area.  John will look back to discover how the area evolved from prairie and farms to suburban development and eventually became a regional shopping district.

Trails, trains, trees, founder Franklin Cossitt, Dr. Fox, Samuel Vial and David Brainard Lyman all contributed to the La Grange area story and influenced the community that we enjoy today.  Many other people and events influenced our evolution.  Those will also be discussed as part of the class.

The informative book La Grange Centennial History First 100 Years (1979) available at the La Grange Area Historical Society will be used as course material.

You can register for the 8-week course  online at www.lths.net
